Tsugumi's gaze sharpened, her Scan psych flaring as she targeted the swirling Noise Tags around the jubilant boy. The moment her psychic energy connected, the joyful atmosphere shattered. The air crackled with a malevolent hum, and the very fabric of the UG seemed to ripple.

*GRRRROOOOWWWLLL!*

From the shimmering haze of static, a formidable figure materialized directly in front of them, an Alterna Wolf. Its fur gleamed with an ethereal gold, its front legs and tail a vibrant, sinister purple. It was larger, more powerfully built than any Garage Wolf they'd encountered, its predatory growl vibrating through the invisible pavement. Its eyes, twin points of malevolent violet, fixed on them with chilling intensity.

The Alterna Wolf threw back its head and let out a long, piercing howl. Causing a sickening thrum in Tsugumi and Ao's chests. As the howl faded, two hulking forms appeared on either side of the gold wolf massive Mosh Grizzlies. Their fur was matted and dark, their claws extended, and their snouts wrinkled in aggressive snarls.

"It's his arrogance," Tsugumi breathed, her voice tight with grim realization. "His ego, his self-importance... it manifested as Noise. We have to erase them. We have to free him."

"Free him from his own arrogance?" Ao whispered, her face pale. "This is a boss fight, isn't it?!"

Tsugumi didn't answer. The Alterna Wolf lunged.

The Alterna Wolf, incredibly fast despite its size, launched itself at Ao. Its purple-clawed front paws glowed with raw energy, preparing to tear into her.

"Ao, look out!" Tsugumi yelled.

Ao, reacting on instinct, threw herself to the side, narrowly avoiding the wolf's devastating swipe. The Alterna Wolf's claws ripped through the invisible space where she had been, leaving shimmering rents in the air.

Simultaneously, the two Mosh Grizzlies charged, one roaring directly at Tsugumi, the other lumbering towards Ao, their massive forms threatening to crush them.

"Split up!" Tsugumi commanded, activating her Shockwave Pin. She unleashed a concentrated slash of concussive force directly at the Mosh Grizzly bearing down on her. The Grizzly stumbled, its roar choked off, giving her precious seconds.

Ao, meanwhile, created a rapid-fire volley of fireballs with her Pyrokinesis Pin, aiming for the Mosh Grizzly heading her way. The beast roared as the flames licked at its hide, but it pressed its charge, shrugging off the damage.

The Alterna Wolf, agile and cunning, changed targets, now focusing on Tsugumi. It circled her, its golden fur shimmering, its movements fluid and deceptive. Its purple tail lashed, sending out crackling waves of distortion.

"It's fast!" Tsugumi muttered, barely dodging a snap of its jaws. She needed to create distance, control the flow of battle. She activated her Ice Blow Pin, sending a burst of freezing wind to create a patch of slippery ice beneath the wolf. The Alterna Wolf skidded, momentarily losing its footing, but quickly regained it, its intelligent eyes narrowing.

One of the Mosh Grizzlies, recovered from Tsugumi's Shockwave, let out a furious roar and swiped a massive claw at her. Tsugumi dodged, but the force of the blow still created a shockwave that threw her off balance, sending a searing pain through her arm. "Gah!"

"T-chan, you okay?!" Ao cried out, trying to keep her own Mosh Grizzly at bay with a barrage of flaming lava balls which she punches using her Burning Cherry Pin, each impact leaving scorch marks on the beast.

"Fine!" Tsugumi gritted out, forcing herself back upright. These were stronger than anything they’d faced. The Alterna Wolf was too smart, the Grizzlies too tanky.

The Alterna Wolf then lunged again, but this time, its body began to shimmer, becoming almost translucent. It was using a phasing ability, making it harder to hit. It darted through Tsugumi's attempts to counter, appearing to strike from unexpected angles.

"It's phasing!" Ao yelled. "You can barely hit it!"

Tsugumi needed a direct hit. She focused her, trying to predict the Alterna Wolf's movements, to find the brief moment it solidified. The wolf darted left, then right, its ethereal form mocking her.

One of the Mosh Grizzlies, seeing Tsugumi distracted, roared and charged, its immense bulk aimed for a devastating tackle. Tsugumi braced herself, knowing she couldn't avoid it entirely. She channeled her Shockwave Pin into a defensive slash hoping to lessen the impact.

The Grizzly slammed into her, sending a jarring pain through her entire body. She cried out, flying backward, landing hard on the invisible ground. Her vision swam, a sharp pain in her ribs. "Urgh... This is starting to annoy me"

"T-chan!" Ao shrieked, seeing her partner go down. The Mosh Grizzly she was fighting took advantage of her distraction, swiping a heavy claw that sent her sprawling too, her leg aching fiercely.

"This isn't good!" Ao yelled, forcing herself up, her Pyrokinesis flaring in desperation. She sent a continuous blaze stream at her Mosh Grizzly, trying to keep it off her.

Tsugumi, gasping for breath, struggled to sit up. The Alterna Wolf, seeing them both downed, let out a triumphant snarl and began to circle, its gold eyes gleaming with anticipation. It knew they were vulnerable.

"We need to focus fire!" Tsugumi wheezed. "Ao, get your Grizzly off me! I'll deal with the wolf!"

Ao nodded grimly. She created a powerful lava ball with her Burning Cherry Pin, focusing all her remaining energy, and launched it with a furious kick at her Mosh Grizzly. "Let T-Chan alone!" The molten projectile slammed into the beast's chest with explosive force, causing it to howl in agony and stumble back, temporarily stunned.

Taking advantage of the opening, Tsugumi dragged herself to her feet, ignoring the pain. She targeted the Alterna Wolf. It was phasing, but she knew the trick. She had to predict its emergence. She analises his movements as he moved.

The Alterna Wolf lunged. Tsugumi waited. Just as its form solidified for the attack, she unleashed a concentrated blast from her Ice Blow Pin, aiming for its face. The sudden blast of ice shard slammed into the wolf, coating its golden fur in a thin layer of frost, and making it shriek in surprised pain. It stumbled back, its phasing disrupted.

"Gotcha!" Tsugumi gritted out, her voice raw.

The Alterna Wolf, no longer phasing, looked furious. It snarled, its golden fur bristling. The Mosh Grizzlies, however, were still a huge problem.

Ao, seeing the wolf vulnerable, quickly conjured another lava ball and, with a powerful punch, sent it flying towards the Alterna Wolf. The wolf dodged, but the explosion still buffeted it.

"He's open!" Tsugumi yelled. She needed to pin it down. She activated her Ice Blow Pin, sending forth a continuous stream of ice barrages coming from the ground, aiming to encase the Alterna Wolf in ice. The wolf struggled, its movements slowing as ice crystals began to form on its legs.

One of the Mosh Grizzlies, recovered from Ao's lava ball, charged again, snarling. Tsugumi could barely move, focused on the Alterna Wolf.

"T-chan!" Ao screamed. She lunged, summoning her Pyrokinesis for a wide, sweeping flame burst that engulfed the Mosh Grizzly, pushing it back. The Grizzly roared, its fur smoking, but it was still in the fight.

"They're too tough!" Ao yelled. "Their hides are like armor!"

Tsugumi, still maintaining the ice stream on the Alterna Wolf, looked at the Grizzlies. Their sheer bulk and aggressive charges were overwhelming them. The "arrogance" of the boy had manifested as brutal, unrelenting force.

Suddenly, Tsugumi remembered something from their earlier battles: the Grizzlies' weakness to focused, sustained attacks. They absorbed single hits well, but fell apart under continuous pressure. She also remembered the Alterna Wolf's agility.

"Ao, target the Grizzlies' legs!" Tsugumi instructed. "Keep them from charging! Use your fire to burn through their hide! Don't let up!"

"Got it!" Ao nodded, understanding. She switched tactics. Instead of single fireballs, she unleashed continuous blaze streams at the legs of her Mosh Grizzly, focusing on the joints. The Grizzly roared, its movements becoming more labored as the flames seared its flesh.

Tsugumi, meanwhile, intensified her Ice Blow on the Alterna Wolf. The golden wolf was now almost entirely encased in ice, its struggles growing weaker. She needed to shatter it.

But the second Mosh Grizzly, sensing its packmate's distress, lunged at Tsugumi, ignoring its own safety. Tsugumi couldn't break her concentration on the wolf.

"Hey!" Ao yelled. She created a large lava ball and, with a furious kick, sent it flying towards Tsugumi's Mosh Grizzly. The lava ball exploded, catching the Grizzly in the side, causing it to stumble.

"Thanks, Ao!" Tsugumi gritted out. Now! She channeled every ounce of psych energy into her Ice Blow Pin. With a final surge of power, she unleashed a devastating ice shard centered on the Alterna Wolf.

The ice shattered, and with it, the Alterna Wolf exploded into a shower of glittering gold and purple static.

"One down!" Ao cheered, even as she continued to pour fire onto her Mosh Grizzly, which was now beginning to show significant signs of damage, its roars turning into whimpers.

With the Alterna Wolf gone, the two Mosh Grizzlies became more desperate, but less coordinated. The one Ao was fighting was clearly weakening, its movements sluggish.

"Just a little more, Ao!" Tsugumi urged, moving to help her. She targeted the remaining Mosh Grizzly, activating her Shockwave Pin. She uses rapid series of concussive slashes, aiming for its already weakened legs and exposed chest. Each impact shuddered through the beast.

Ao, energized by Tsugumi's support, unleashed another barrage of lava balls and continuous blaze streams onto her Grizzly. The combined assault was relentless. The beast roared in pain, its fur smoking, its movements slowing to a crawl.

The Grizzly Tsugumi was hitting roared, then collapsed onto its knees, twitching. Tsugumi didn't let up, pounding it with repeated Shockwave blasts until, with a final, choked gurgle, it too dissolved into purple static.

Now, only one Mosh Grizzly remained, the one Ao had been relentlessly burning. It was a pitiful sight, its fur scorched, its roars weak.

"Let's finish this!" Ao declared, summoning all her remaining energy. She focused her Pyrokinesis Pin, creating a massive, swirling vortex of flame that consumed the remaining Grizzly. Tsugumi joined her, adding a final, powerful Ice shard, piercing his chest and sending him on the air.

With a final, pained shriek, the last Mosh Grizzly disintegrated into static.

Tsugumi and Ao stood panting, their bodies aching, their psych energy completely drained. Tsugumi leaned heavily on her knees, the sharp pain in her ribs and arm a brutal reminder of the fight. Ao slumped beside her, clutching her throbbing leg.

"We... we did it," Ao wheezed, a tired but triumphant smile on her face. "That was... the toughest one yet."

Tsugumi slowly nodded, pushing herself upright. She looked at the spot where the young boy had been celebrating. The Noise Tags were gone. He was still standing there, but his expression had changed. The arrogant smirk was replaced by a more humble, grateful look. He was talking to a manager, who was shaking his hand. He had gotten his promotion, but his "arrogance" had been purged in the battle.

The timer on their hands desapear, another mission complete.

"Yeah," Tsugumi agreed, her voice rough. "We did it. That was... truly arrogant." They had faced their first true boss of the day, another manifestation of a human's flaw, and emerged victorious, battered but unbroken.

As the last Mosh Grizzly dissolved, the young boy, who had been oblivious to the psychic battle raging around him, gasped. He looked around, his frantic, arrogant thoughts gone, replaced by a quiet realization. He sighed, a genuine smile spreading across his face. 'Man... I was thinking too much,' he murmured to himself, the words echoing a frequent complaint from his co-workers. 'Maybe... Maybe they really were the best.' He looked down at his now-empty box. 'I don't just deserve this promotion, I don't deserve them. I wonder if they could be happy for me.' With a newfound humility, he turned and walked away, no longer seeking to prove anything, just content with his success.

Tsugumi and Ao watched him go, a shared sigh of exhaustion and satisfaction escaping them.

Ao giggled, a bright, clear sound despite their aches. "We helped save another person's life! Well, his mind, anyway. I like the feeling of being a hero!"

Tsugumi sighed again, then looked at Ao, a rare, soft expression on her face. She raised her Drink Pin, focusing its healing energy. A gentle green glow enveloped both of them, and the sharp pains in their bodies began to recede, replaced by a soothing warmth.

"Ao," Tsugumi said, her voice quiet but firm, "tomorrow is Day 7. Our last day."

Ao's eyes, usually so vibrant, dimmed a little. The realization settled over them, heavy with the weight of all they had endured. They had passed through so much in these few days. Short days, yes, but each one packed with more life, more fear, more struggle, and more growth than many people experienced in years. They were dead, yet they felt more alive than ever before.

Ao's sadness quickly melted into a soft, resolute smile. "Yeah," she whispered, her gaze meeting Tsugumi's. "Our last day." Then, her smile widened, a tear gathering in the corner of her eye, but it was a tear of pride. "I'm glad to have such a cool bestie."

For the very first time since the Game began, a genuine, unburdened smile touched Tsugumi's lips. She nodded, her eyes glistening, and pulled Ao into a tight, fierce hug.

Ao's eyes widened slightly in surprise, a small gasp escaping her. Another hug from Tsugumi, but this time much better than the last one, the hug was warm, solid, and filled with an unspoken depth of shared experience and unwavering bond. It was so sweet.

Tsugumi whispers, her head resting on Ao's shoulder "I am scared.... scared of what may happen tomorrow..."

Ao smiles a little, she rises her hand putting it on Tsugumi's head as she pats slowly "T-Chan... As long we are together, nothing can stop us... We are a team after all..." Ao sighs and closes her eyes "We will make it, alright?"

Tsugumi nods slowly, keeping herself close to Ao, putting all her fears, feelings and problems on the tight hug, after a while she steps back.

Tsugumi smiles "Seems like we still got a little bit of time to do anything we want."

Ao nods looking around "Yeah, we didn't faint or anything yet, so, what do you want to do T-Chan?"

Tsugumi rises her hand to Ao "Let's feast, we have a big challenge ahead! What about some ramen?"

Ao giggles "Yay! What are we waiting for then!? After ramen let's eat ice cream! Oh and we can go to the park together! Oh and like have you played Tin Pin before!?" Ao grabs Tsugumi's hand, holding it tight.

Tsugumi smiles a little as both start waking together, this time, no discussion, annoyance or a clear objective, just two friends hanging out.

The low hum of the Underground, usually a distant thrum, felt palpable here, within the Dead God's Pad. It wasn't a grand, ethereal chamber this time, but a sleek, dimly lit bar, exuding an aura of exclusivity and a hint of the forbidden. Neon signs cast shifting glows on polished surfaces, and the clink of glasses mingled with an omnipresent, almost imperceptible psychic static.

At a curved, obsidian bar, a figure occupied stools, her presences as distinct as her drinks. One of the Game Masters, the hands guiding Shibuya's deadliest game.

Viuva De Cruz sat with an unnerving grace, a delicate stem glass cradled in her perfectly manicured fingers. Her smile was a constant, unsettling curve, devotion that simmered beneath her calm facade. Her brown eyes, however, glowed with an internal, calculating fire as she idly swirled the contents of her glass. She took a sip of her Mimosa, sliding her finger around the top of the glass.

Next to her, Sato Magenta entered the room, his immense, muscular frame barely contained by his stool. He walks to the mini fridge and takes a beer out of it.

Across from them, at a smaller, more intimate table, sat Soma Shirane. He was almost imperceptible, blending into the shadows, his simple, dark attire a stark contrast to Sato's flamboyance. He sipped slowly from a simple glass of water, his eyes observing everything with a deep, unsettling stillness. He radiated an aura of profound peace, unburdened by the chaos of the Game.

A holographic projection shimmered on the bar top between them, a grim display of statistics: "Players Remaining: 30."

"Thirty Players remaining!" Viuva's voice, though smooth as aged whiskey, held a manic edge, her words tumbling out with a frantic energy. "A rather effective culling, wouldn't you agree, my darlings?" She taps her nails on the counter slowly.

Sato chuckled, a low, resonant sound that vibrated through the air. He took a slow sip of his drink. "Efficiency is merely a byproduct of excellent entertainment, Lady Viuva. The truly impressive feat is how consistently they deliver drama. Though, I must admit, the recent batch has been... less than inspiring, save for a few shining gems." He glanced pointedly at a miniature projection that showed the general movements of players, without focusing on any specific individuals for now.

Soma ever calm, simply gave a serene nod, his gaze distant on his phone.

"The Reapers have performed adequately," Soma finally spoke, his voice a low, with a certain amousement, utterly devoid of any emotional inflection. "Kariya and Uzuki, in particular, seem to have found a rather effective method of pruning the weak while pushing the more promising stock."

Viuva's smile widened, a hint of something sharp in her eyes. "Ah, yes, dear Mister Soma! Our little Kariya, so adept at playing the villain, all rough edges and blunt force! And Uzuki, with her delightful penchant for theatrics, always so keen to escalate the drama! They make a charming pair, don't they?!"

"Indeed," Soma confirmed, with a smirk. "The vets already know how the game works, there is nothing much to worry about, yet."

"But not quite enough damage," Sato muttered, a hint of disappointment in his tone. He tapped his glass, making the ice clink. "I do enjoy seeing them truly pushed to their limits. The despair, the agony... it's the spice of the Game. It heightens the flavor of victory, and sweetens the bitterness of defeat." He stretched, his suit shimmering. "Speaking of lingering flavors, have there been any further developments with that anomaly, Mitsuki Konishi?"

Viuva's smile tightened, her eyes narrowing imperceptibly. The playful delight vanished, replaced by a cold, sharp hunger that made the air in the bar feel suddenly thin. "Ah, our little aberration! Still drifting aimlessly through Shibuya, a perfect, delectable morsel, untouched by the Game's usual mechanisms... A true culinary curiosity, utterly devoid of purpose, yet stubbornly present!"

"She remains a curious case," Soma noted, shaking his head a little "Unregistered, unplayable, yet undeniably present in the UG. Her continued existence without a clear objective is... illogical, in the context of the Game's design." He smirks "Smells like a potential plot twist to me."

"Illogical, dear Mister Soma, but utterly fascinating!" Sakura corrected, a dangerous warmth entering her voice, like hot iron. "She is an unwritten symphony, a blank canvas of pure, unadulterated existence! A void just waiting to be... devoured!" Her tongue darted out, a quick, almost imperceptible lick of her lips. "I still contend she is mine to consume! Her essence would be... a truly unique addition to my collection! A rare vintage, perhaps, with notes of pure, unadulterated presence!"

Sato chuckled, a low, rumbling sound that vibrated through his opulent clothing. "Still fixated on that morsel, Miss Viuva? I understand the appeal of rarity, but such an inefficient expenditure of energy for something that yields no game progress, no thrilling spectacle. Why bother with a passive existence when there are so many active, struggling souls to savor?"

"Inefficient, Mister Sato, only if you lack the palate to appreciate true delicacy!" Viuva retorted, her voice hardening slightly, losing its earlier playful edge. "She is not mere energy! She is pure, unadulterated potential! A relic of something... else! A lingering whisper from a time before this Game, perhaps! And I will have her! She is a prize far beyond what any Player could ever offer!"

Soma remained calm, he chuckled a little, finding it funny as His gaze goes back to his phone.

"Be careful with what you wish, Milady. Mitsuki Konishi isn't a problem yet, actually, she wasn't a problem to begin with, just a product of the past" Soma takes a sip of his glass.

Sakura's eyes flickered to a different projection, one that showed a shadowy, almost indistinct figure, constantly moving, whispering. "She adds a certain je ne sais quoi to the game... Yet, a potential prize, it's a prize... She is just that rare, I like to see my golden ticked walking around Shibuya without a goal. It makes my predador instincts go wild... Fufufufufufu~"

"It undermines the very fabric of the Game's mystery, Miss Viuva," Sato stated, his tone more serious than before, a rare frown creasing his brow. He tapped his glass, making the ice clink. "The unknown is a critical component of despair. If they know too much, they can strategize, they can hope. And hope is a weakness we cannot tolerate in our subjects. It makes them resilient, and we prefer them... malleable."

"Hope makes the fall all the more dramatic" Viuva countered, a sly glint in her eye as she took a slow sip of her drink. "It amplifies the agony of failure! Besides, her information is always incomplete, always just enough to tantalize, never enough to truly save them! And the fear she instills... 'a mindless monster'! It fuels their desperate drive to win, to survive! She is a valuable, if rogue, asset! A catalyst for deeper, more profound emotions.... Yet a prize to be claim"

"You sound like a broken record, Milady"  added, with a smirk. "Perhaps she could leak that A larger context beyond the immediate Shibuya iteration. Speaking of 'other games,' of 'Game Masters' with different motivations, different agendas."

"Rumors, Mister Soma! Mere rumors!" Sato scoffed, though a faint flicker of concern, almost imperceptible, crossed his extravagant features. He tapped his glass again, more rapidly this time. "Unless she is privy to information she should not possess. Information that could truly threaten the sanctity of this Game!"

Viuva's smile remained fixed, but her eyes held a deeper cunning, a predatory intelligence. "Or perhaps, dear Mister Soma, she is merely a narrative device! A way to give our Players a sense of a grander conspiracy, to heighten their paranoia and their desperation! After all, what is a game without a compelling backstory?! Without the whispers of hidden truths?!" She leaned back in her throne-like stool, her fingers steepled, a silent, almost predatory laugh in her eyes. "Let her play his part! As long as she does not truly interfere with the ultimate goal!"

"And what is the ultimate goal then, Miss Viuva?" Sato asked, his voice low, a clear challenge in his tone. He set his tumbler down, his full attention now on her. "Beyond mere entertainment? The accumulation of power? The ascension to higher planes? Or is there something... grander, something more profound, that only you, the most... dedicated of us, truly comprehend?"

Viuva's gaze met his, her smile unwavering, but her eyes burning with an almost terrifying intensity. The air in the bar seemed to hum with suppressed energy. "The ultimate goal, Mister Sato, is to transcend! To evolve beyond the limitations of mere existence! To refine the essence of this world, to distill its purest desires, its deepest fears, its most exquisite struggles, and to forge something entirely new! And our Players, dear Mister Sato, are merely the fuel for that fire! Their despair, their triumphs, their very beings... all contributing to the grand alchemy that will elevate us beyond the mundane, beyond even the confines of this realm!"

Soma, simply observed, a faint, almost imperceptible flicker in his eyes, as if acknowledging the vastness of Viuva's ambition without judgment. "Heh..." He shakes his head a little, his attention going back to his phone.

Sato, for the first time in their presence, looked genuinely unsettled. His flamboyant confidence faltered, a flicker of something akin to fear in his eyes. He quickly regained his composure, a forced smile on his face, though his hand trembled slightly as he reached for his drink. "Transcendence, you say? How... ambitious. I do hope it yields sufficient aesthetic value. One wouldn't want all this... effort... to be for naught."

Viuva merely chuckled, a sound like glass chimes, chilling and utterly devoid of warmth. "Oh, it will, Zero! It will! Now, let's talk about Day 7! The grand finale!"

Sato's eyes lit up, his bored expression vanishing. He stood up, his suit rustling with his sudden movement, a wide, predatory grin spreading across his face. "Ah, Day 7! My week! My turn to host the final spectacle!" He turned to the general player projection, then zoomed in on the images of Tsugumi and Ao, currently seen sharing a rare moment of closeness. "And these two... Lady Tsugumi and Lady Ao. They've formed such a sweet bond, haven't they? All that teamwork, all that reliance." He chuckled, a cruel, gleeful sound. "It's almost a shame to cut such strong ties."

Viuva laughed, a high, sharp sound that sent a chill through the air. "Oh, Mister Sato! You are utterly delightful when you're truly invested! Their sadness will be simply delicious!"

Sato spread his arms wide, his face alight with anticipation. "Indeed! Their despair will be a symphony! This is going to be the most exquisite finale yet!"

Soma, however, remained at his table, sipping his water, his expression perfectly serene, as if the impending tragedy was simply another ripple in the endless flow of existence. He could do nothing other than just let the game continue...
